A new Neon Genesis Evangelion anime short is set to premiere at the “Evangelion:30+; 30th Anniversary of Evangelion” festival event, which will take place at the Yokohama Arena from February 21 to 23. Titled “Evangelion Broadcast 30th Anniversary Special Screening,” the new anime short will be played on the arena’s massive 59 feet x 49 feet LED screen.
Hideaki Anno is the chief supervisor, planner, and scriptwriter of the new Evangelion anime short at Studio Khara. Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time animation director Naoyuki Asano returns to direct the new short. Kazuya Tsurumaki, Shinji Higuchi, and Ikki Todoroki also return as supervisors.
The Evangelion:30+; 30th Anniversary of Evangelion event will feature an exhibition area, a stage area, new merchandise, and other activities for fans. Kabuki Symphony No. 9 Evangelion will also be held at the event as part of a collaboration between Studio Khara and Shochiku. Studio Khara directed the event’s spatial and layout design, with Anno credited for creating the event’s title icon visual.
Further, there are revival screenings of the franchise’s films as part of the “Monthly Eva: Evangelion 30th Movie Fest. 2025-2026” monthly event in Japan. These screenings are running in select theaters in Japan through February 2026.
Fans can also look forward to Pixelity’s Neon Genesis Evangelion XR game, EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS, and it will launch in the first half of 2026. EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS is the first installment in a trilogy of games, which adapt the original Neon Genesis Evangelion anime.
