A new website has opened to announce that Shinji Saijyo’s popular cooking manga Iron Wok Jan! (Tetsunabe no Jan!) will be getting an anime adaptation in 2026. The announcement also revealed that Ei Aoki, known for his work on Fate/Zero, will be directing the anime at TROYCA.

Saijyo released the original manga in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine from 1995 to 2000, and Akita Shoten published 27 volumes for the series. The first 13 volumes of the series were published by ComicsOne from 2002 to 2005, followed by DrMaster acquiring the license and publishing the remaining volumes from 2005 to 2007.

Saijyo also published the Tetsunabe no Jan! R: Chōjō Sakusen (Iron Wok Jan! R: The Summit Operations) manga in Weekly Shōnen Champion, and Akita Shoten published 10 compiled book volumes for the series. In August 2015, Bingo Morihashi launched the Tetsupai no Jan! spinoff manga in Takeshobo’s Kindai Mahjong magazine. Takeshobo published the third compiled book volume of the manga in October. Saijyo then released the successor manga Tetsunabe no Jan!! 2nd (Iron Wok Jan!! 2nd) in 2017.

Lastly, here’s an overview of the series via MyAnimeList:

Jan Akiyama, a cocky arrogant teenager wants to fulfill his grandfathers wish of defeating his arch nemesis Mutsuju Gobancho. When he arrives at the Gobancho restaurant he meets his granddaughter Kiriko Gobancho. Their rivalry is easily compared to theirs grandfathers, for Jan believes cooking is about competition and Kiriko believes cooking is about heart.
