MediaOCD has announced a collaboration with Aniplex of America, where it will release home media titles with the company. At the moment, it is specifically releasing Blu-rays for Gurren Lagann and Mashle: Magic and Muscles.
Both the Gurren Lagann Complete Blu-ray Disc Box and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release will be available. The former comes with all 27 episodes of the TV series plus both movies housed in a stunning box illustrated by Yo Yoshinari (Mechanical Design). It features both the special Blu-ray version of Episode 6, “There Are Some Things I Just Have to See!!”, as well as the broadcast version, “Sit In the Hot Tub ’Til You’re Sick!”. The movie release features both films that were remastered in 4K in celebration of the film’s 15th anniversary in 2023. The Blu-ray also contains audio commentary from staff, a special leaflet, as well as the English dub of both films, which was only available in North American theaters during the film’s 15th anniversary revival screening in January 2024.
Mashle: Magic and Muscles, on the other hand, will also be available for purchase with a Complete Blu-ray Box for both season 1 and The Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc. The former includes episodes 1-12 in both Japanese and English, plus a bevy of bonus content and materials including textless OP & ED, a special booklet, original soundtrack CD, mini-character stickers, and a U.S. Blu-ray exclusive coaster. The latter comes with episodes 13-24 in both Japanese and English, as well as a special booklet, original soundtrack CD, mini-character stickers, and textless OP & ED, which includes the viral “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” by Creepy Nuts.
Previously, these sets were exclusive to the Crunchyroll Store, and before that, RightStuf. Check out images of the Aniplex Blu-ray sets below:
