Hypixel has announced that it has reacquired the rights to its game, Hytale, from Riot Games and that the project is back in development. It will release for early access on PC at a later date.

In a statement, Simon Collins-Laflamme, founder of Hypixel stated the following about the news:

A new and exciting chapter for Hytale begins today.

We are thrilled to announce that we have acquired Hytale from Riot Games. While it didn’t make sense for them to continue developing it in its existing form, they ultimately wanted what’s best for players, and that’s for us to eventually play a revised version of the game. We are grateful to Riot Games for making this possible.

Over the past few weeks, we have rehired more than 30 developers who know this game inside and out, with additional returns expected in the coming days. Together, we are going back to the original vision for Hytale. We are fully independent and personally committed to funding Hytale for the next 10 years.

Transactions like this are rare in the games industry. Thank you to everyone for keeping hope alive.

Hytale is saved.”

In the coming days, fans can expect to get a new look at the gameplay of Hytale. There will also be details about when the game will come to early access, the price, and more. It will be available for PC at launch, Linux/Mac at a later date, and consoles further down the line. At launch, the game will feature an Exploration Mode, Creative Mode, and modding support. Minigames and Adventure Mode will be available at a later time.

Lastly, the official website describes the game as follows:

About Hytale

Set out on an adventure built for both creation and play. Hytale blends the freedom of a sandbox with the momentum of an RPG: explore a procedurally generated world full of dungeons, secrets, and a variety of creatures, then shape it block by block.

Our Early Access release focuses on polished core systems – exploration, responsive combat, and robust building – alongside creator‑first tools for making your own content, crafting minigames, and running community servers.
