During the MF Bunko J’s Fall School Festival 2025 livestream, Kadokawa announced the TV anime adaptation of Yūshi Ukai and Nekometal’s Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table (Shibō Yūgi de Meshi o Kuu) light novel series will premiere on January 7, 2026 with the title SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table. A new promotional video, the opening theme song artist, and a new visual were also revealed.
The first episode of SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table will premiere on January 7, 2026 at 11:00 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX, and it will be 60 minutes long. The second episode will premiere at 11:30 p.m. JST. What’s more, the anime will stream on Netflix and other streaming services in Japan.
