Kadokawa has announced that popular boy-band Kis-My-Ft2 member and voice actor Toshiya Miyata’s Melody of the Boundary (Kyōkai no Melody) novel will be getting an anime adaptation. Cast members of the drama CD adaptation of the novel will reprise their roles in the anime. Kadokawa also released a video from the franchise that features the drama CD voice actors.

Check out the video below:

Toshiya Miyata first released the Kyōkai no Melody light novel with illustrations by LAM in May 2024. The story then inspired its own drama CD, starring Kent Itō as Kyōsuke Tsumuraki, Daisuke Sakuma as Kai Amano, Yūma Uchida as Takeshi, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Makoto, Sōma Saitō as Minoru, and Miyata as the narrator. The second novel volume will ship on November 25.

Furthermore, a manga adaptation of the novel by Iqura Sugimoto was released in Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine on May 2. Kadokawa will publish the manga’s first compiled book volume on November 25.

Lastly, here’s an overview of the anime via MyAnimeList:

After losing his musical partner Kai in an accident just before their major debut, Kyousuke has distanced himself from music and lives without motivation. Three years later, Kai suddenly appears before Kyousuke, unchanged and as outspoken as ever.

“Being alive but doing nothing… that’s no different from being dead.”

Encouraged by Kai’s words, Kyousuke returns to the world of music, rediscovering the joy of creating sound together. But their time together cannot last forever…
