Nintendo has announced that a special Nintendo Direct centered around The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be held on November 12 at 6:00 a.m. PST / 9:00 a.m. EST via YouTube and the Nintendo Today! app. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct will feature the world premiere for the film’s official trailer, and there will be no new game information during the Nintendo Direct.
Previously, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is in the final stages of development. The film will release in the United States on April 3, 2026 in theaters in the US. The movie will premiere on April 24, 2026 in Japan, three weeks after the US premiere.
Nintendo released Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Nintendo Switch for $39.99 on October 2. A free update for Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 brings native support for play on Nintendo Switch 2 with 4K support, improved performance, and much more.
