Nintendo has showcased multiple new reveals for Kirby Air Riders during the game’s second direct. Some of the reveals include confirmations of new riders, modes, and an upcoming online demo event.

The direct begins with the reveal that Top Ride will return as a mode from Kirby Air Ride. The mode will feature a top-down perspective of races, which take place in a smaller scale in quicker sessions. Masahiro Sakurai, the event’s host, also reveals some of the mode’s maps. These include Flower, Flow, Crystal, and more.

Sakurai goes on to confirm the Road Trip mode, where you can drive along while encountering stages, challenges, stadium contests, road events, shops, and collectible machines. Players can also run into characters, such as Elline, Twister, and Tortuilding, who provide items for progression. Road Trip mode is also where the game’s story will take place, which focuses on the backstory of the machines and the introduction of a new character named Zorah.

The direct further confirms the addition of more characters in the roster. These include Daroach from Kirby: Squeak Squad, Taranza from Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Rick from Kirby’s Dream Land 2, Marx from Kirby Super Star, plus generic enemies like Lololo & Lalala, Rocky, Scarfy, and Waddle Dee.

Sakurai also reveals new machines, the introduction of a Time Attack mode, multiple music tracks from throughout the series, a VS. Boss stadium for City Trial, customizable riders, machines, and announcer voices, and that Shogo Sakai and Noriyuki Iwadare will compose the game. Additionally, three new amiibo have been announced: Meta Knight & Shadow Star, King Dedede & Tank Star, and Chef Kawasaki & Hop Star.
