Warner Bros. and New Line have announced that Mortal Kombat II will now release on May 8, a week before its previous release date of May 15. Previously, Warner Bros. delayed it from its October 24 release date to May 2026.
Recently, New Line revealed that it is already planning to make Mortal Kombat III, with Jeremy Slater set to return as screenwriter. The release date and story for Mortal Kombat III are currently unknown. However, according to Deadline, alongside Jeremy Slater returning as screenwriter, Todd Garner will return to produce the sequel. More details about the sequel will likely release after Mortal Kombat II debuts in theaters on May 8, 2026.

Earlier this year, Digital Eclipse announced its latest collection, the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. The game will release later on October 30 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch. The collection will include a documentary which focuses on the history of the franchise and how it came to be, as well as multiple games from the series’ past.
