Square Enix confirmed that a new Dissidia Final Fantasy mobile game for Android and iOS will be revealed on October 14 at 3:00 a.m. PDT / 6:00 a.m. EDT. Fans will be able to watch the “Team Boss Battle’ announcement trailer on YouTube to see what this new Dissidia Final Fantasy mobile game is all about. In addition, the game’s teaser website is now live with various background visuals.
This is the first new Dissidia Final Fantasy mobile game since the shut down of Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia on February 29, 2024. Originally released on February 1, 2017 in Japan, Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia enjoyed success for several years with countless post-launch updates. However, Square Enix determined in November 2023 that the company could no longer possible to provide adequate service for Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia going forward. It’s likely that the game’s declining revenue also played a role in the shutdown.
The next major release in the Final Fantasy series is Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on January 22, 2026. Featuring the base game and the Episode INTERmission DLC featuring Yuffie Kisaragi, the Nintendo Switch 2 version will run at 30 FPS with “smooth performance and crisp visuals.” What’s more, the new release includes a “Streamlined Progression” feature, allowing players to focus on the story with various modifiers enabled. Players will have unlimited MP and HP at all times, unlimited limit and ATB gauge during battles, 9,999 damage, easier weapon ability acquisition, and more.
