SEGA revealed a new in-engine clip for New VIRTUA FIGHTER Project alongside new battle system details. The new details go over the battle rules and gameplay system that players can expect in New VIRTUA FIGHTER Project when it launches.

Two Battle Rules

Standard

  • Traditional battle rules
  • Win a round by either depleting the opponent’s health or causing a ring out
  • Default victory condition: first to win 3

Uprising

  • A completely new battle rule, distinct from Standard
  • Introduces dynamic momentum-shifting opportunities, offering a new gameplay concept
  • Not just a “bonus mode,” but designed to stand alongside Standard as a main gameplay pillar

Flowguard

A new defensive system designed with stylish movements

Expands options and introduces fresh dynamics for offense and defense beyond traditional guarding

Break and Rush

  • Damage accumulates on targeted parts of the body until they break, unlocking powerful offensive opportunities for the attacker
  • Damage to body parts persists across rounds
  • Flowguard and Break and Rush systems are closely tied together.

Stunner & Stun Combo

  • New combo system initiated from “stun” attacks
  • Approachable for new players.
  • Realistic movements and impactful strikes
  • Traditional combos return

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O World Stage launches on October 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, followed by Nintendo Switch 2 this winter. The game will feature a brand-new mode, the new DLC character Dural, cross-play across all platforms, rollback netcode, and more. In addition a closed beta test for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O World Stage will be held in early September on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam with cross-play. It’s free for all players, and those who participate earn a free in-game title in the full game. 

In addition, all Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O players on Steam will receive the World Stage edition of the game via a free update. On PlayStation 5, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown players purchase the new edition for a discounted price of $9.99 (MSRP: $19.99) with DLC carrying over. Pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are now open with the SEGA Genesis character customization item as a pre-order bonus. Lastly, pre-orders for the Switch 2 version open at a later date.
