Nihon Falcom announced the Trails RPG series has surpassed 9 million copies sold worldwide as of September 24, 2025. Out of the 9 million in sales, a million copies of the Trails series were sold from the beginning of August 2024.
GungHo Online Entertainment and Nihon Falcom released Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter on September 19 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam worldwide. Sales data for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter were not announced, but Falcom notes that the remake is “highly acclaimed from many users, which they praised for the game’s grandeur and beautifully written story.”
Final Weapon reviewed Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and gave it a 4.5/5 score, noting that the game is “the perfect introduction to Trails, with an outstanding cast, engaging gameplay, and a world impossible not to get invested in. The slow-burning narrative, while very enjoyable, can lead to monotonous sections of the game, but this is just a minor gripe considering the massive adventure at hand. New and old fans alike will fall in love with what is assuredly one of the best RPGs of the year.”
NIS America will release The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon on January 15, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG worldwide. Trails beyond the Horizon is the latest entry in the long-running story of Trails, as heroes from across Zemuria contend with some of the continent’s darkest secrets and plots.
