A surprising shadowdrop.

Nintendo has announced the new “DK Island & Emerald Rush” DLC for Donkey Kong Bananza on Nintendo Switch 2, available today in the Nintendo eShop. The DK Island & Emerald Rush adds a new explorable area and new challenges for existing layers in Donkey Kong Bananza.

In Donkey Kong Bananza, Donkey Kong has several abilities to challenge the Void Company and get to the center of the planet. For example, he can dive punch, hand slap, surf, and perform many maneuvers while destroying and traversing obstacles in the way. Additionally, Donkey Kong Bananza has several modes. This includes co-op play that you can do via GameShare or locally. The mode allows one player to play as Pauline and unleash projectiles of destruction using the mouse functionality, and you can also carve items from stone in the DK Artist mode.

Final Weapon reviewed Donkey Kong Bananza and gave it a 4.5 out of 5 score, stating that the game is “an immaculate return to 3D for DK. Bananza offers creativity seen in very few games in our industry have achieved. Each Layer is expertly crafted, Donkey Kong is endlessly fun to control, and the narrative is surprisingly great. While the general lack of difficulty, especially with bosses, leaves a bit to be desired, Donkey Kong Bananza is one of my favorite Nintendo games of the last decade. Let’s just hope this marks a new era of consistent Donkey Kong games.
