The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the Assassination Classroom anime series has teased an announcement for September 8 at 12:00 a.m. JST (September 7 at 11:00 a.m. EDT) to celebrate the anime’s 10th anniversary. It should also be noted that Assassination Classroom is one of the featured titles for Jump Festa 2026, which could mean that a new anime project may be on the way.
Yūsei Matsui’s Assassination Classroom manga ran from 2012 to 2016 in Weekly Shonen Jump. A 22-episode anime adaptation aired in 2015, followed by a second season with 25 episodes in 2016. Crunchyroll is streaming the first and second seasons with English dubs and subs. The anime movie adaptation, Assassination Classroom the Movie: 365 Days, opened in Japanese theaters in November 2016.
Lastly, here’s an overview of the anime series, via Crunchyroll:
Forget about homework and pop quizzes. The students of Class 3E have a far more important assignment: kill their teacher before the end of the year! A tentacle-d sensei that moves at Mach 20 is out to conquer the classroom after destroying seventy percent of the moon. In addition to reading, writing, and arithmetic, the murderous monster behind the lectern will teach his students everything he knows about the assassination game. Should some eager beaver prove to be a quick study in killing, he or she will save Earth from extinction – and collect a hefty reward.
