Nihon Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo and the Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter development team want to make Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter while avoiding a long gap between games, as stated in an interview with Automaton Media. Kondo and Falcom are aware that players want a Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter remake without players needing to wait too long like the community once endured between Trails in the Sky FC and SC.
“Since Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is a remake of the first Trails in the Sky,” Kondo said, “If we didn’t follow up with a remake of Trails in the Sky SC, people would go, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ So, we do want to do a remake along the lines of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. Back in 2004, we ended up keeping players waiting quite a while for SC after the release of Trails in the Sky’s PC version. This time, we want to avoid such a long gap. As for remakes beyond that, I’d say it depends on fan demand.”
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter launches September 19 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam worldwide. A free Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Prologue demo is available now, and save data transfers over to the full game.
What’s more, a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter will be released digitally on September 19 with higher frame rates and resolution. Fans who purchase Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter on Switch can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition ($1 upgrade pack fee).
