Xbox and ASUS announced the new ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handhelds will launch on October 16. Pricing has not been officially confirmed yet, but early retail listings point toward the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X costing $549.99 and $899.99.

The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handhelds blend the performance of Xbox hardware with the freedom of Windows 11. Both devices offer a portable PC gaming experience, cloud gaming via Xbox Game Pass, and native Xbox titles through Windows. The ROG Xbox Ally comes equipped with AMD Ryzen Z2 A Processor, 16GB RAM, and a 512 GB SSD, while the ROG Xbox Ally X features the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme Processor, 24GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD.

There are several notable standout features as well, including an Xbox full screen experience purposefully built for gaming thanks to modifications that minimize background activity and dedicate system resources to gameplay. Each handheld features a dedicated Xbox button that opens an enhanced Game Bar overlay with Xbox and ROG’s feature suite, including Gaming Copilot (Beta). Players also have quick access to an aggregated gaming library from Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net, and other leading PC storefronts.

Moreover, Xbox announced its Handheld Compatibility Program, which will work to ensure more games are ready to play on supported handhelds. At launch, players can see which games are compatible with their ROG Xbox Ally or Ally X by looking for the “Handheld Optimized” or “Mostly Compatible” badges.

More features will be available early next year for the ROG Xbox Ally X, including Automatic Super Resolution and AI-powered highlight reels. Further updates for both devices include advanced shader delivery for preloading game shaders, a wide range of compatible accessories such as the ROG Raikiri II Xbox Wireless Controller, and much more.
