Arrowhead Studios has teased a crossover between Helldivers 2 and Halo 3: ODST in a new trailer meant to commemorate the upcoming launch of the game on Xbox Series X|S. Helldivers 2 is available now on PlayStation 5 and PC and will release for Xbox Series X|S on August 26.
The trailer, titled “Bring the Boom,” features “Boom” by P.O.D. as the backing track. It also highlights some of the features of Helldivers 2, such as the expansive galaxy, terrifying enemy factions, and the massive arsenal of weapons that your Helldiver can use to defend Super Earth. The trailer ends with a small snippet of Super Earth itself during a rainy night, as a Helldiver drops into a city. The sequence has a jazz music track in the background.
That jazz track is titled “Overture” and orginates from Halo 3: ODST. The game initially released for the Xbox 360 in 2009 and would later be available as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Halo 3: ODST takes place during the events of Halo 3 and focuses on a group of soldiers, known as ODST, as they are dropped in the middle of a war zone and must look for a way out.
