NEXON Games and LoreVault Studio revealed Woochi the Wayfarer, a new single-player action adventure game set in Korea’s Joseon era, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Specifically, the game focuses on the adventures of the Dosa (The Mage of the Way), Jeon Woochi.
Developed in Unreal Engine 5, Woochi the Wayfarer tells an original story inspired by “The Tale of Jeon Woochi,” who uses his powers to fight injustice and trick the corrupt. The narrative features a magical setting along with monsters and music inspired by Korean folklore. The soundtrack is composed by Jung Jae-il, the musician behind the soundtracks of the Parasite film and Squid Game Netflix series.
Woochi the Wayfarer is being developed with the goal of delivering a game with quality and content for a global audience. The developers at LoreVault Studio are collaborating with experts in Korean literature and traditional music to effectively represent Korea’s unique history and culture within the game. The team is also conducting location hunting and visiting cultural sites across Korea to recreate the Joseon era in Unreal Engine 5.
“Woochi the Wayfarer will provide a fresh and unique play experience that is based on traditional Korean materials while also having an emotional resonance that anyone around the world can relate to,” said NEXON Games CEO Park Yong-hyun in a press release, “We plan to present a game that will appeal to gamers of all cultures, telling an amazing story that fully showcases NEXON Games’ development capabilities and accumulated experience.”
