Kadokawa announced the Made in Abyss anime is getting a series of films in 2026, starting with Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi (Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery). Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery is the first part of the film series, and its cast and staff were revealed along with a new key visual depicting Tepaste and Cravagli.
Masayuki Kojima is returning to direct the new Made in Abyss anime at the studio Kinema Citrus. What’s more, Hideyuki Kurata is in charge of series composition, and Kazuchika Kise and Yuka Kuroda are returning as character designers.
The returning cast includes:
- Mariya Ise as Reg
- Miyu Tomita as Riko
- Shiori Izawa as Nanachi
- Misaki Kuno as Faputa
Moreover, a film concert series for the anime will be held, starting February 8, 2026, at Nakano ZERO in Tokyo. Composer Kevin Penkin will conduct the orchestra, vocalists Takeshi Saito and KIHOW (MYTH&ROID) will perform, and cast members of the anime will be in attendance.
In January 2023, Kadokawa announced that a third season of the Made in Abyss anime series was in the works, continuing from where the second season, Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun, left off. Moreover, Made in Abyss Season 3 will likely feature the Capital of the Unreturned and Curse Fleet arcs.
Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun premiered in July 2022. The anime aired weekly into September 2022, covering Riko and the crew’s journey in the sixth layer of the Abyss. HIDIVE currently streams the first two seasons of Made in Abyss in English, and the anime was previously streamed on Crunchyroll.
