A TV series adaptation of the Wolfenstein game franchise is in production at Amazon, according to a new report from Variety. The tagline of the Wolfenstein Amazon adaptation is simply, “the story of killing Nazis is evergreen.”
Patrick Somerville will create, write, executive produce, and serve as showrunner on the series. Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham will executive produce via Kilter Films. James Altman of Keyframe Films and Jerk Gustafsson of developer MachineGames will also executive produce. Kilter Films also previously produced another Bethesda Amazon Prime adaptation: Fallout. Season 2 will premiere later this year.
In 2014, MachineGames released the first in a entry in a new rebooted Wolfenstein franchise, titled Wolfenstein: The New Order. Over the years, a sequel and two spin-offs also released, known as The New Colossus, The Old Blood, and Youngblood. All of the entries in the quadrilogy are available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. The New Colossus and Youngblood in particular are also available on Nintendo Switch.
