Capcom has announced that Street Fighter 6 for the Nintendo Switch 2 is tournament legal. This means that players can use this version of the game for the Capcom Pro Tour in both offline and online tournaments.
As of June 9th, these rules have gone into effect via the Capcom Pro Tour website, which state the following: “CAPCOM’s video game Street Fighter 6 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2, and (1) all updates, patches, and stages released by the tournament date, and (2) Character packs released up to 7 days before the tournament start date. If a character was released on January 1st, the character will be available for tournaments starting from January 8th.”
Recently, Capcom revealed that Street Fighter 6 has now sold over 5 million copies, according to the game’s X (formerly Twitter) account. This marks another significant milestone for the game, so the developers revealed an illustration to celebrate this achievement.
Capcom also announced four new DLC characters for Season 3. Sagat, Viper, Alex, and Ingrid will be joining Street Fighter 6 in Season 3. The new Street Fighter Season 3 characters will be released in the following order:
- Sagat – Summer 2025
- C. Viper – Autumn 2025
- Alex – Early Spring 2026
- Ingrid – Late Spring 2026
On Nintendo Switch 2, Street Fighter 6 will feature a new Local Wireless mode. This will allow for local play between users with the system. Local Wireless also features Avatar Matches, allowing players to use their custom avatar from World Tour.
What’s more, the Nintendo Switch 2 version supports tabletop mode with single Joy-Con play, Gyro Battle using dynamic motion controls. There is also Calorie Contest Mode, which allows players to test their strength and endurance with exercises.
