Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 has already sold over 3.5 million units after just four days. This makes it the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware ever globally, over systems like the Wii and original Switch.
The Nintendo Switch 2 initially launched on June 5, meaning that Nintendo recorded the statistic on June 9. It is priced at $449.99. A bundle is available for $499.99 featuring Mario Kart World. Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 at Best Buy, Walmart and Target went live on April 24 and quickly sold out within just a few hours. However, Nintendo and other retailers will periodically replenish stock after launch.
Other games like Cyberpunk 2077 and upgrade packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are also available. The sales figures for the Nintendo Switch 2 will continue to grow past 3.5 million units as stock increases and more games launch in the near future.
Recently, YouTube announced that the company is working with Nintendo to make the YouTube app natively available on Nintendo Switch 2. Currently, the YouTube app from the original Nintendo Switch is not compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, so players will have to wait for the native version to release.
It’s also worth noting that other media apps, including Crunchyroll and Hulu, also don’t appear to work on Nintendo Switch 2. In those cases, Nintendo Switch 2 users will need to wait until Crunchyroll, Hulu, and other companies detail their plans for support on the newly released console.
The next major Nintendo Switch 2 game, Donkey Kong Bananza, will release on July 17. It will run at 1080p 60 FPS in handheld mode and support HDR in handheld mode and docked mode.
