The Pokémon Trading Card Game initially released in Japan in 1996, just a few months after the release of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Over the years, the game has become just as beloved as the main Pokémon game series, inspiring a generation of card collectors and even getting its own web series last year. Nintendo also released the Game Boy version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game on the virtual console in 2023. Pokémon TCG Pocket is available now on iOS and Android.
The next entry in the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, will be available in late 2025. It will release for the Nintendo Switch 2 and original Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will feature improved frame rates and enhanced resolution. The game will take players back to the Kalos region from Pokémon X and Y for the Nintendo 3DS.
