Update: Following the release of the second trailer on May 6, Rockstar Games reiterates that the footage was captured entirely on PS5 with “equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.”

Moreover, the Grand Theft Auto VI official website is now live with new screenshots and overviews for in-game locations, including Vice City, and several characters.

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on May 26, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Before being delayed, Grand Theft Auto VI was originally planned to release in fall 2025.

According to Rockstar Games, the game was delayed to ensure the new Grand Theft Auto game meets the quality that fans expect. Here’s the statement issued by Rockstar Games, via the official website:

With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.

We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.

Sincerely,
