The Ring Magazine and Dimps have announced a collaboration on a brand new original boxing game. The game, which is not currently in development yet, will feature a cast of original characters.
The Ring Magazine is an American boxing magazine formed in 1922. They describe themselves as the “The Bible of Boxing” and focus on exclusive boxing news, fighter rankings, and match analysis. Dimps has worked on games such as the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai series, Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter V, and more. Dimps’ creative director, Takashi Nishiyama, has directed the original Street Fighter and Fatal Fury: King of Fighters games.
In a statement, The Ring Magazine stated the following about its upcoming boxing game with Dimps:
“Together with legendary Japanese video game designer Takashi Nishiyama, The Ring is proud to announce a forthcoming boxing game featuring original characters. This strategic partnership marries The Ring’s unmatched authority in boxing with game developer Dimps’ decades-long experience in crafting classic games.
Nishiyama is best known as the creator of the iconic Street Fighter franchise – arguably the greatest fighting game series of all time – while at Capcom. He worked on classic games such as The King of Fighters and Metal Slug while at SNK and also created Fatal Fury.
Dimps, since its creation in 2000, has been involved with many best-selling games ranging from various Dragon Ball titles, Sonic titles, and Street Fighter IV. Development of our untitled boxing game with Dimps will begin soon and we can’t wait to unveil more details in the future.”
