Nintendo Switch 2 Will Have CRIWARE, Yebis and Enlighten Engine Support

CRIWARE is known for games such as Persona 5, Tekken 8, and more.

Silicon Studio and CRI Middleware have announced that its respective game engines, Enlighten and Yebis, and CRIWARE, will support the Nintendo Switch 2. Engine support for the former will be available for the Nintendo Switch 2 in July 2025.

Developers have used Enlighten and Yebis for games such as Bravely Default and Bravely Second. On the other hand, CRIWARE is used with games such as Tekken 8Final Fantasy XVI, and ATLUS RPGs like Metaphor ReFantazio. Other engines, such as Unreal Engine 5, will also be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2.

Recently, Nintendo announced that they have delayed Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders in Canada. It made the decision in order to align orders with the new pre-order timing in the United States. Originally, pre-orders would’ve started on April 9.

Back in 2019, the company moved much of its production of Nintendo Switch to Vietnam to avoid any potential impact of tariffs between the United States and China. In regard to Nintendo Switch 2, the U.S. government has placed a 46% tariff Vietnam’s exports to the country. In a report, Vietnam General Secretary Tô Lâm expressed interest in cutting tariffs on the United States “down to zero” if a deal can be reached. Both governments have announced nothing at this time.

Nintendo Switch 2 will have engine support for CRIWARE, Yesbis, and Enlighten. The console will release on June 5, 2025, alongside Mario Kart World. The console will be available to purchase for $449.99 at launch in the United States, as confirmed by Nintendo. A bundle including Mario Kart World will also release for $499.99. While pre-orders would’ve initially gone live on April 9, Nintendo has delayed the date due to recent tariffs in the United States
