Nintendo has confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will not include the Expansion Pass DLC. The Expansion Pass DLC will be available as a separate purchase on Nintendo Switch 2.
“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition does not include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass DLC. That DLC is available as a separate purchase,” a Nintendo PR representative told IGN.
This means that players who purchased The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the Expansion Pass on Nintendo Switch will still need to pay the $10 upgrade fee to convert the content to its Nintendo Switch 2 Edition version, adding up to a total of $90 spent. Equally, purchasing the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition ($69.99) and its Expansion Pass ($19.99) results in the same total cost of $90.
It’s worth noting that Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will cost $10 each. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade packs will apply to physical and digital copies of the games for the original Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers receive the upgrade packs for both games at no additional cost.
Although we expect other Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrades to also cost $10, pricing for upgrade packs to Super Mario Party Jamboree and Kirby and the Forgotten Land were not directly confirmed.
Lastly, Nintendo Switch 2 launches June 5, and a bundle featuring Mario Kart World will be available. Pre-orders were initially set to go live on April 9, but Nintendo is evaluating potential impacts of recent tariffs in the United States.
