Nintendo’s Tetsuya Sasaki confirmed that Nintendo Switch 2 game-key card games aren’t tied to accounts, so players can slot the game card to other systems and play it without conflicts.

“So key cards will start up on the console or system that it is slotted into, so it’s not tied to an account or anything,” Sasaki told GameSpot.

As previously stated, a game-key card don’t contain the full Nintendo Switch 2 game data. Instead, inserting the game-key card will download the full game to the user’s console via the internet. Lastly, Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5 for $449.99, and a bundle featuring Mario Kart World will be available for $499.99. Pre-orders were initially set to go live on April 9, but that date has been delayed as Nintendo evaluates the potential impacts of recent tariffs in the United States.
