Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut for Nintendo Switch 2 will run at 4K with a locked frame rate at 60 FPS, according to what a SEGA representative told GVG. This maximum resolution and frame rate can be achieved in Nintendo Switch 2’s docked mode, which supports a 4K output via HDMI.
You can watch the segment where GVG broke the news in their Nintendo Switch 2 preview video on YouTube:
Serving as a definitive edition of Yakuza 0, Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut for Nintendo Switch 2 includes new never-before-seen story cutscenes with insight into key events and backstories. A new “Red Light Raid” online multiplayer mode will be available with 60 unlockable and playable characters. In this new mode, players can join their friends and take out hordes of enemies. Moreover, the game features the addition of English and Chinese VO along with French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese subtitles.
This marks the second time the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series will make an appearance on Nintendo platforms, following the surprise release of Yakuza Kiwami last year. Speaking of, it was revealed last year that Yakuza Kiwami was selling very well on Nintendo Switch, with RGG Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama stating, “It seems that ‘Kiwami’ is selling like crazy. That’s good. Somehow, the company executives were predicting the number of copies. I was way off. I guess I was a bit too conservative.” With this information, it makes plenty of sense that SEGA would look to bring more of the series to Nintendo platforms.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5, 2025, for $449.99, and pre-orders will open on April 9 at participating retailers in the US. A Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle will be also available for $499.99. Lastly, Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut will be available at launch on June 5.
