During the company’s AnimeJapan 2025 stage event, Kadokawa announced two new cast members for the upcoming anime film adaptation of Penguin Box’s Odekake Kozame manga series. The new film will premiere this summer.
The cast of Odekake Kozame includes:
- Kana Hanazawa as Kozame-chan
- Megumi Han as Ankō-chan
- Misaki Kuno as Usame-chan
- Yūichirō Umehara as Man with a Mohawk
- Natsuki Hanae as Haruto
- Manaka Iwami as Sora (new)
- Rin Kurusu as Miho (new)

Chihiro Kumano, who is also working on The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei, is directing the film at ENGI. Hiroaki Nagashima writes the film’s script. Ayumi Takeuchi is the character designer, and Kisuke Koizumi is the sound director. dugout is in charge of sound production, while Yoshiaki Fujisawa composes the anime’s music. Kadokawa produces the film, and Kadokawa Animation will distribute it in theaters.
Penguin Box launched the manga on Twitter/X in June 2021, and the manga’s sixth compiled book volume shipped on December 24, 2024 in Japan. The manga’s first anime adaptation came in August 2023 on YouTube, and its 60th and final episode streamed in May 2024. Hanazawa wrote and performed the anime’s theme song “Yorimichi” (Detour).
