The staff for the upcoming Butt Detective: Star and Moon film have revealed new cast members. These cast members will depict the “Phantom Thieves” in the movie.
The new cast for Butt Detective: Star and Moon includes the following:
- Hōchū Ōtsuka as Phantom Thief G
- Yasuhiro Mamiya as Phantom Thief H
- Kumiko Watanabe as Phantom Thief Q
- Shinya Takahashi as Phantom Thief T
- Tetsuya Kakihara as Phantom Thief Z
- Daiki Kobayashi as Phantom Thief N.
- Yuri Yoshida as Phantom Thief I
- Tomoyuki Shimura as Phantom Thief K
- Rumi Okubo as Phantom Thief B
FRUITS ZIPPER will perform the opening theme for the third film, titled “Kawaiitte Magic” (Cuteness is Magic). The movie marks the third in the franchise, with the most recent being Butt Detective the Movie: Farewell, My Lovely Partner (Butt).
Butt Detective is an anime series that initially premiered on NHK International in 2018. New episodes of the anime released in 2021, alongside a new film. The series focuses on a detective with a butt for his face and his partner, a small brown dog named Brown, as they solve crimes. Toei initially announced the series’ second anime film in December 2023.
Toei describes the story of the series as follows:
He’s chivalrous, cunning, and his looks are anything “butt”… Meet Butt Detective, a gentleman whose catch phrase is, “Hmm…I smell a case.” Every day, he poots the big city’s cases to rest. Join Butt Detective and his cast of funny allies as they solve mysteries together.
Lastly, the new Butt Detective film, Star and Moon, will air in theaters in Japan on March 20. The anime will return on April 5.
