Legendary Entertainment and Funcom announced new MMORPG Dune: Awakening will launch on May 20 for PC via Steam. Players can begin their journey early by trying out the new Character Creator and Benchmark Mode tool, which is available now on Steam.
The base game of Dune: Awakening costs $49.99, and pre-orders will be available soon. Players who pre-order Dune: Awakening will also receive the Terrarium of Muad’Dib in-base decoration housing the iconic desert mouse.
Those who download Dune: Awakening’s Character Creator and Benchmark Mode tool on Steam will receive a code for the exclusive Frameblade knife skin, which can be redeemed in the game at launch. Once created, the character can be saved and later imported into the game at launch.
In the Character Creator tool, players can fine-tune every aspect of their character and select their home planet, caste, and mentor—Swordmaster, Bene Gesserit, Mentat, or Trooper. The final choice determines the character’s starting abilities. However, players gain access to every school eventually and can even mix and match abilities to personalize their character’s fighting prowess.
The Benchmark Mode lets players check their hardware performance and system compatibility before launch to ensure they can run Dune: Awakening on their PCs. While the benchmark runs, players are treated to scenes from the game, including soaring with an ornithopter and a dramatic encounter with a colossal sandworm.
