NetEase and Marvel has announced that Human Torch (Johnny Storm) and The Thing (Ben Grimm) will release for Marvel Rivals on February 21. They join a roster of dozens, including both Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards) and the Invisible Woman (Sue Storm). A trailer showcasing these characters will likely release soon.
Additionally, according to a Dev Talk, NetEase will also implement new seasonal updates for to how ranks work. Players at Gold rank or above (season high) will receive a costume reward, and players at Grandmaster rank or above along with the Top 500 will obtain the “Crest of Honor” on February 21. Ranks will reset and players will drop four divisions. For instance, if players ended the first half of season 1 at Diamond I, they will start the second half at Platinum II.
Further, in the second half of the season, we will be rolling out new costume rewards for Gold rank players, along with brand new Crests of Honor. These Crests will recognize players at Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All (the top 500), each with its own unique design to celebrate the skill of players. Players can expect this to be the norm in future seasons.
Marvel Rivals Season 1 started on January 10. The season is called “Eternal Night Falls” and focuses on vampires such as Dracula. Mr. Fantastic and Human Torch are duelists (attack), The Thing will be a vanguard (Tank), and the Invisible Woman is a strategist. The game is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Lastly, the second half of season 1 will start on February 21.
