Nintendo has announced that Wario Land 4 will release for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on February 14. The game initially released for the Game Boy Advance in August 2001. Check out the trailer for the upcoming release below:
The description describes Wario Land 4 as follows:
It’s a fabulous golden pyramid filled with riches! Trouble is, its denizens don’t want to give up the treasure easily, but that hasn’t stopped Wario before! In Wario Land 4, the greedy hero finds himself no longer invincible, as in his previous platform adventures. He can, however, undergo amazing transformations that aid him in his quest—like becoming Vampire Bat Wario, Bouncy Wario, and even Zombie Wario!
Over the last few years, several developers have released spiritual successors to the Wario Land franchise, specifically Wario Land 4. The most notable examples are Pizza Tower and Antonblast. Both games are also available for the Nintendo Switch, alongside PC via Steam.
Final Weapon’s review of ANTONBLAST notes that it’s “an incredibly fun time. The premise is unique, the gameplay is incredibly addicting, and the visuals are beautiful. Further, the inspirations that led to its creation are honored respectfully and are used, not to create a cheap nostalgic response, but to create an experience fun for all players. While the game has some bugs, difficulty spikes, and control issues, I highly recommend it, regardless of whether or not you’re a fan of the genre.”
Lastly, Wario Land 4 will release for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service on February 14.
