Previously, Nintendo president and CEO Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that the company is already preparing measures against scalpers when the Nintendo Switch 2 console launches later this year. Furukawa also stated that the company would continue to support the original Switch after Switch 2’s launch as long as demand for the console remains.
Nintendo Switch 2 features a new stand, new magnetic joycons, a mysterious new button, and a new dock and handheld base. The console is expected to have Hall Effect sticks, which eliminate the stick drift problems of the original Nintendo Switch. Publisher Nacon expects the Nintendo Switch 2 to launch between April and September 2025, and other publishers like EA have teased their plans for the console.
Nintendo confirmed that the console plays exclusive games, as well as physical and digital Nintendo Switch games via backwards compatibility. Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.
