Square Enix has released the version 1.001 update for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store with various bug fixes.
Firstly, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth update 1.001 improves game stability, meaning frame rates should be more consistent going forward. The game’s Low preset has been fixed for Steam Deck, ensuring that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will launch correctly on the handheld. A fix to the NVIDIA DLSS feature’s default setting was also applied.

- Improved overall game stability, including several bug fixes.
- Fixed the graphics preset to be set to ‘Low’ when launching for the first time on Steam Deck, even when save data is linked from the cloud. (The next time the game is launched on Steam Deck, the saved settings will be applied.)
- When playing on a PC that supports NVIDIA DLSS, the default setting for ‘Anti-Aliasing Method’ is now set to ‘DLSS’.
- The DirectStorage DLL (Dynamic Link Library) has been updated to the latest version.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth battle director Teruki Endo will be hosting a game design panel during the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC). The panel is titled The Challenges in Developing an Innovative Battle System for Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth. During the panel, Endo will go in depth about challenged involved with designing the battle system of the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, including Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
