    PlayStation Teases Return of Limited Console Themes

    The announcement comes after the recent success of the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes.

    PlayStation has announced that they will bring back the limited console themes for the PlayStation 5 based on the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4. The themes will be unavailable after tomorrow, however, Sony claims that they will return in the months ahead. That said, they will not create any new themes based on other games, unlike the ones that would be available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

    Their statement on their Twitter/X account is as follows:

    Thank you for the fantastic response to the classic PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4 limited-time console themes, which will be leaving tomorrow. Due to the positive response on these 4 themes, we’re doing some work behind the scenes to bring these special designs back in the months ahead.

    While there aren’t plans to create additional themes in the future, we’re excited to keep celebrating legacy PlayStation hardware with you all.

    Recently, Sony announced that Hideaki Nishino will be the president and sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, effective April 1, 2025. Previously, he was a joint-CEO alongside Herman Hulst. According to a PR statement, while Hulst will still continue to serve CEO of the Studio Business Group, he will now report directly to Nishino.

    Further, Sony also announced Hiroki Totoki, President, COO and CFO of Sony Group Corporation will step down from Chairman to become President and CEO of Sony Group Corporation. Lin Tao, SVP, Finance, Corporate Development and Strategy for SIE, will also step down from her position at SIE to become CFO of Sony Group Corporation. 

    Lastly, PlayStation will reveal more details about the return of limited time themes for the PlayStation 5 in the coming months.
