According to recent box office statistics, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is now the third highest grossing video game adaptation film of all time. It has earned $446 million worldwide, around $3.5 million behind Detective Pikachu. The statistic comes just over a month after the film premiered in theaters on December 20.
Earlier this week, Paramount announced that the Sonic The Hedgehog 4 film will release on March 19, 2027. They also released the first logo for the film, which has a pink “4” on display. Those who have seen the film or are familiar with the original game franchise will know which popular character will debut in the next entry in the movie series.
Thus far, the Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise has exceed well over $1 billion worldwide. The Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise will likely continue to earn far more than 1 billion dollars in the future. The statistic will further grow with the release of the fourth film.
