Komi Can’t Communicate Manga is Ending in Just Two Chapters

The manga began its serialization in July 2016.

Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine and website announced that the long-running Komi Can’t Communicate manga will be ending in just two new chapters. The last chapter is on track to release before the manga’s eighth anniversary.

Tomohito Oda launched the Komi Can’t Communicate manga in July 2016, roughly eight months after the original one-shot was published in September 2015. The Komi Can’t Communicate manga entered its final arc on July 24, 2024.

Shogakukan will ship the 37th volume of Komi Can’t Communicate on Friday, January 17 in Japan. VIZ Media, who publishes the manga in English, released the 32nd volume on Tuesday, January 14.

Here’s an overview of the manga, via VIZ Media:

Socially anxious high school student Shoko Komi’s greatest dream is to make some friends, but everyone at school mistakes her crippling social anxiety for cool reserve. With the whole student body keeping its distance and Komi unable to utter a single word, friendship might be forever beyond her reach.

The Komi Can’t Communicate anime’s first season premiered in October 2021 on TV Tokyo and affiliate channels, and Netflix began to stream the anime in Japan that same month. Netflix would also stream the anime worldwide with an English dub. A second season of Komi Can’t Communicate premiered six months later in April 2022, but there’s still no confirmation of a third season.
