Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed to March 20

Yet another delay for the next entry in the major franchise.

Ubisoft has announced that they have once again delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows, this time to March 20. Initially, the game would’ve released on November 15. However, it was then delayed to February 14. Now it will release one month later, in March.

In a press release, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows being delayed to March 20 is due to their “renewed focus” on launch-day quality. They state the following:

“Additionally, as part of the renewed focus on gameplay quality and engaging Day-1 experiences, it has been decided to provide an additional month of development to Assassin’s Creed Shadows.”

“This additional time will allow the team to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months and help create the best conditions for launch by continuing to engage closely with the increasingly positive Assassin’s Creed community. The game is now scheduled for March 20.”

They also announced that the recent cancellation of XDefiant is due to an ongoing focus on saving costs. Specifically, they say that “operationally, the Company will continue to drive significant cost reductions, together with a highly selective approach to investments, and now expects to exceed €200 million in reduction of its fixed cost base by FY2025-26 vs. FY2022-23 on an annualized basis. In December, XDefiant was discontinued and three production studios in high-cost geographies were closed.”

Lastly, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on March 20. Pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows are available now.
