Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Reveals January 2025 and Frieren Updates

Start the year off with the best mage.

SEGA revealed several updates for free-to-play online action RPG Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis launching in January 2025, including the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End collaboration.

The Super Genesis Festival ’24 Part 2 event transforms Central City into a New Year celebration with decorations and mid-winter attire. Players can use Seasonal Points to get various items at the Exchange Shop, and there will be new Limited-Time Tasks as well. Starting January 1, players can also draw 10 free SG Scratch Tickets per day for up to 100 draws during the campaign.

Moreover, several AC Scratch Tickets are available, including New Year’s Remix Line ’25 with remixes of previously released outfits and accessories. The new NY Rewind Collection ’25 features NGS-spec AC Scratch Ticket prizes released in January from past years, and the two Revival AC Scratch Tickets bring back classic AC Scratch Ticket items from the original Phantasy Star Online 2.

The January 8 update will bring the Limited-time Quest: Drill: Large Enemy Clean-up Op to the Stia Outskirts. That same day, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will launch its collaboration with Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. The Frieren the Slayer Style AC Scratch Ticket brings new avatar items and cosmetics based on Frieren, Fern, and Stark. Players can login to earn Frieren-themed Build Parts and other rewards.

On January 15, players can take on the Ruine Masquerader boss enemy in a solo quest 1-on-1 battle. Starting from Rank 1 at Depth 1, complete each Rank to unlock the next, with the next Depth being unlocked by completing Rank 10. You receive an exclusive Ruine Masquerader item at Rank 10 of each Depth and earn Limited-time Tasks and Titles Tasks. More Depths will be added each week.

Lastly, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store, Windows, and Steam.
