In a new interview with IGN, Katsuhiro Harada discussed the possibility of adding another Final Fantasy character to Tekken 8 after the game added Clive Rosfield of Final Fantasy XVI as its 4th DLC fighter. In response to a question about consideration of other Final Fantasy characters, Harada said the following:
“It’s not like we’re limited to one character from Final Fantasy. It might be cool if we had two, who knows. But it’s not something that we can decide alone.”
Many fans are still hoping to see Tifa Lockhart added to the game, and this question was likely a result of that, with the interviewer mentioning Cloud Strife. Harada makes it known that the team isn’t limited to just one character, but if a second were to happen, that would be something both Bandai Namco and Square Enix would need to decide together. In the past, Harada has acknowledged the fan demand for Tifa to be added specifically.
Clive officially wrapped up Year 1 of Tekken 8 DLC, so it’s likely that we will hear about plans for Year 2 before too long. We can expect another four characters to be added throughout 2025, so it is possible that one of these is another Final Fantasy representative in Tekken 8.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the latest Final Fantasy title, launched in February 2024. The second chapter in the Remake Project delivered a massive open world with many new additions and upgrades from Final Fantasy VII Remake. The game is currently available now on PlayStation 5, and a PC release is set for January 23, 2025.
