Katsuhiro Harada Acknowledges Fans Asking for Tifa Lockhart to Join Tekken 8

"We all know she is attractive and I understand that."

Tekken 8 Director Katsuhiro Harada took to Twitter this morning to respond to fans asking for Tifa Lockhart to join Tekken 8 as a guest character. Harada stated that he knows “she is attractive,” but he and the team have not decided on who the guest characters will be for Tekken 8. The tweet itself has over 15,000 likes.

For those unfamiliar with the martial artist, Tifa is one of the main heroines in Final Fantasy VII. She’s been requested for Tekken for years, but this might be the game she finally makes the roster. Final Fantasy VII is currently more popular than ever, with creatives Tetsuya Nomura, Yoshinori Kitase, and Naoki Hamaguchi recreating the original game across three new titles. Her moveset as a martial artist fits right in with the Tekken roster, as she primarily uses her fists to deal damage. We won’t know much about the chances of Tifa joining Tekken 8 as a DLC character until DLC is revealed, so please stay tuned. You can check out the tweet from Harada below:

Speaking of Final Fantasy VII, the next game in the remake project, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is set to release next month. The game will take players into the open world of Gaia, with an emphasis on exploration. Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Red XIII will embark on a quest to track down Sephiroth and stop his plans of ruling over the planet.

Fans of the original game can expect to visit famous locations such as the Gold Saucer, Cosmo Canyon, and Nibelheim. According to Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura, the game will end with the party’s trip to The Forgotten Capital. Tetsuya Nomura believes he was “able to do what [he] truly wanted to show” in regards to Aerith’s fate. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is looking to be an unforgettable experience, so be sure to catch up on our vast amount of coverage here.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to release on February 29 for PlayStation 5. Tekken 8 is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Stay tuned for our upcoming review of the flagship title!
