Nintendo announced Tetris DX is now available on the Nintendo Switch Online – Game Boy app for Nintendo Switch alongside the classis Tetris game for NES. Both games are included with the base Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Tetris, Nintendo released a new video featuring legendary game designer and programmer Alexey Pajitnov. In the video, Pajitnov shares a special message for fans before they play Tetris and Tetris DX with Nintendo Switch Online.
Nintendo regularly brings more games to the Nintendo Switch Online service, including classic Game Boy and SNES games. Subscribers may upgrade to the Expansion Pack tier for access to Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance games. This year saw the additions of Microsoft’s Rare catalog, Mother 3 (Japan only), Super R-Type, F-ZERO Maximum Velocity, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, the Starfy series, and much more.
The most recent game in the franchise, Tetris Forever, launched on November 12 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and GOG. The collection includes the following games: the original Tetris on the Electronika 60 computer, the 1988 Famicom version of Tetris, Tetris 2 + Bombliss, Tetris Battle Gaiden, Hatris, Super Bombliss, Super Bombliss DX, Super Tetris 2 + Bombliss, and Super Tetris 3.
Tetris fans can also look forward to Tetris: The Grand Master 4 – Absolute Eye –, a new entry in the long running Tetris series by developer ARIKA. The game will launch by the end of March 2025 for PC via Steam.
