PlayStation has released their 2024 Wrap-Up for players in select regions. The tradition started a few years ago and functions similarly to Spotify Wrapped. The feature allows PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 to take a look back on their year and see statistics such as how many games they played, how many hours they spent, total trophies earned, and more.
The experience is available in most regions except for those in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australasia, India, and Russia. For those regions, players must have consented to the collection of “Additional Data” from their PlayStation 4 system settings in 2024, otherwise they will not be able to access it.
Recently, PlayStation 5 sales have topped 65.6 million units. In addition, Astro Bot reached 1.5 million copies sold on PlayStation 5 as of November 3. According to sales numbers from the financial results, 3.8 million PlayStation 5 units were shipped during the latest quarter. This is down 1.1 million unites from the same period during the previous fiscal year.
116 million active users were on PlayStation Network as of September 30, which is up nine million from the same period exactly one year ago. Combined PS4 and PS5 software sales reached 77.7 million units during the quarter, resulting in a 10.1 million increase year over year. 5.3 million of the software sales were first-party games, which is up 0.6 million from the same period last fiscal year. Moreover, 70% of the software sales were full game digital downloads, resulting in a 3% year-over-year increase.
PlayStation will likely reveal Astro Bot sales in the next quarterly financial results early next year. Additionally, they did not disclose sales numbers for the PS5 Pro, considering the console just released on November 7.
