“When I first read the original comic of DAN DA DAN, I was captivated by the attitude to encapsulate various cultures to create a new story, said composer Kensuke Ushio. “The occult, UFO, rom-com, old Japanese movies, you can see the bits and pieces of those elements sampled in the storyline. Thinking back ‘sampling’ was always there in the music I grew up with. For this project, my goal was to create music unlike anything you’ve ever heard before, featuring a variety of samplings (legit!), yet still be a cohesive part of DAN DA DAN. When you’re done listening to this record, please go to the record store to dig for music you can sample!”
Episode 1 of the DAN DA DAN anime made its debut with same day English dubs on October 3 via Crunchyroll, and Netflix is also streaming the series. The first season is expected to have a total of 12 episodes. Creepy Nuts performs the opening “Otonoko,” while ZUTOMAYO performs the ending theme song “TAIDADA.”
Yukinobu Tatsu initially began writing the Dandadan series in 2021. The action and romance-comedy manga series is still ongoing in Shonen Jump+.
