Square Enix producers Hirohito Suzuki and Takahiro Inoue have just announced that as of January 16, 2025, service operations for the Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent mobile game will be transferred to NetEase Interactive Entertainment.
This doesn’t mean the game will be ending or shutting down its service. Rather, it just means that NetEase will be, quite literally, taking over game operations. All of the main story content is already planned for release, even after this transfer. What’s more, players will be able to transfer their game data and continue their journey, with details how to do so available from the in-game notices.
Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is a free-to-play mobile game set in the universe of Octopath Traveler. Square Enix initially released the game in 2018. With over 64 characters at launch, players can explore an endless combination of characters to build your ultimate team. Pick the right team for the right fight and reign victorious on the battlefield. The game is currently available on Android and iOS.

Service Transfer Announcement
First, we’d like to thank all the players of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.
As of Thursday, January 16, 2025, service operations for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent will be transferred to NetEase Interactive Entertainment.
With the 2.5-year anniversary approaching in January 2025, we decided that the best way to continue to provide quality content for everyone was to work in collaboration with NetEase.
As for additional main story content and such for which we’ve received many requests. everything is planned for release after operations have been transferred to NetEase.
Players will of course be able to transfer their game data and continue their adventures. Please see the in-game notices for more information regarding the data transfer process.
