Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Details Battle Styles, Sidearms, and More

Unleash the Mad Dog and Sea Dog styles.

SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio revealed new details about Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, including Goro Majima’s battle styles, sidearms, Dark Instruments, and more.

In Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Majima will have two fighting styles: Mad Dog and Sea Dog. Players can switch between the two styles and unleash Heat Actions that will knock out enemies.

While in Mad Dog style, Majima will combine fists and kicks with knift strokes for quick attacks and combos, even in mid-air. The Madness Gauge will fill up as Majima deals damage, and he may unleash doppelgangers to multiply his attack damage even further once its full.

The Sea Dog style sees Majima dual-wield cutlasses to unleash slash combos and devastating finishing moves. Progressing the story will allow Majima to summon four types of dark deities using treasures called Dark Instruments, which can be acquired from ships of defeated rival pirate crews. Calling upon the power of cursed creatures, the use of Dark Instruments relies on the Madness Gauge.

Three unique sidearms are in Majima’s arsenal: cutlass boomerang, pistol, and chain hook. Each sidearm taps into the power of the Sea Dog style. The cutlass boomerang deals a wide range of damage, the pistol unleashes explosive blowback, and the chain hook lets Majima propel himself toward enemies to keep combos going.

At sea, players may explore treasure islands, visit lighthouses, and fight enemy ships. As the captain of the Goromaru, Majima may bombard enemies with cannon volleys while avoiding oncoming fire. The ship may be modified to improve its defensive and offensive capabilities, and players also have the option to customize its appearance and design.

Majima’s own abilities and crewmates’ skills will determine the outcome of deck battles out at sea. Each crewmate brings unique traits, ranging from offensive skills to healing abilities. Majima’s crew may also take part in free-for-alls against other crews at the Pirates’ Coliseum in Madlantis.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii releases on February 21, 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
