The Pokémon Company has announced that the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has reached 10 million downloads after two days. The announcement comes courtesy of the game’s official Twitter/X account. The amount of downloads for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will likely continue to grow in the coming weeks and months.
The Pokémon Trading Card Game initially released in Japan in 1996, just a few months after the release of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Over the years, the game has become just as beloved as the main Pokémon game series, inspiring a generation of card collectors and even getting its own web series last year. Nintendo also released the Game Boy version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game on the virtual console in 2023.
The official Pokémon website describes Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket as follows:
Experience the fun of collecting Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) cards with Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, an upcoming game for iOS and Android devices from Creatures Inc., the original developers of the Pokémon TCG, and DeNA Co., Ltd.
In this game, you will be able to open two booster packs every day at no cost. You can collect digital cards featuring nostalgic artwork from the past as well as brand-new cards that are exclusive to Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. Be on the lookout for new “immersive cards,” which will make you feel as though you’ve leapt into the world of the card’s illustration.
The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is available now on iOS and Android. Those who download the game can experience the game’s first expansion, Genetic Apex, which features many fan-favorite Pokémon from the Kanto region.
