About Valis: The Fantasm Soldier Collection

The legendary side scrolling action game Valis: The Fantasm Soldier series is making a triumphant appearance on Steam! The highly popular PC Engine versions of Valis: The Fantasm Soldier, Valis II, and Valis III have been fully ported for this collection.

    • Side-Scrolling Action – Traditional side-scrolling action. Players will adventure through various levels, battling enemies and bosses using a combination of close combat attacks and magical powers.
    • Storytelling – Valis is famous for its strong narrative elements. It combines anime-style cutscenes with the action gameplay to tell the story.
    • Anime Sprite Style – The game features vibrant, Japanese anime style sprite graphics and character designs. The visual presentation and animated cutscenes set it apart from many other action games of the 90’s.
    • Variety of Weapons and Power-Ups – Players can find various weapons and power-ups throughout the stages, allowing them to power-up Yuko’s abilities and combat skills.
    • A Popular Game with a Devoted Fanbase – Valis: The Fantasm Soldier is a side-scrolling action game originally released by Telenet Japan in 1986. Its unique setting, featuring a heroine in a sailor uniform and bikini armor battling monsters, combined with high-octane action and deep storytelling, won the hearts of many gamers.
    • The Origin of the Bishojo Game Genre – The original PC Engine versions were groundbreaking for their time, featuring animation sequences and voice acting. The game’s blend of “moe” appeal, solid action gameplay, and captivating narrative led to it being recognized as a pioneer in the bishojo game genre.
    • Additional Features for Smooth Playthroughs – While faithfully preserving the original PC Engine experience, this release adds modern conveniences such as key configuration options and a rewind feature for a smoother gameplay experience on Steam.
